A MESSAGE FROM JORDAN :

 CHUBFUNK RIDES AGAIN

It was at a New Year’s party way back in the “chemical induced” 80's that a good friend of mine said to me
“the only thing that stays the same is change”.
It was not until years later that I realized just how profoundly true his words were.
With those words of wisdom in mind, I thought it might be a good time to let all of you know
what is going on with the band and this website.

When Chubfunk played it’s last job in December of  last year, it was always my intention to reform the group and carry on. As any musician will tell you -  any band, whether a local bar group, or a national headline act, has
a limited timeframe of harmony within the group, creative energy, and performance enthusiasm.
After awhile, the “magic” seems to one way or another just vanish. When the situation gets to that point, the group becomes kind of a drudgery instead of what it was meant to be - creative and  fun.

Chubfunk had not yet reached that point, but, I could sense that we were headed for trouble as our
musical tastes were leading us to want to drive down different musical roads. I made the decision it was time
to stop the group BEFORE we started to disagree and not be friends. Additionally, I needed to address a
shoulder problem that was severely hampering my ability to play.

I guess now would be a good time to say that I really do miss playing out with “the guys”, and, respect all the former members of Chubfunk - both personally, and, their collective musical talents. I know that many of you know
that Steve and Tony have a new group (Roadhouse) and hope to see many of you at their upcoming jobs.
I know I will be there.

In February I was all set to start recruiting new members for carrying on Chubfunk when my wife and I
got the devastating news that she had breast cancer. It has been a long, hard, and emotionally trying time
during the last eight months. I’ve had to watch my life’s partner have parts of her body removed, and then suffer
the even bigger torture of the cure for this disease, chemotherapy, and all the horrible side effects it brings.
I can’t tell you how happy I am to report that “Boo” has just now finished with the chemo,
has been diagnosed as “cancer free”, and we have even noticed some “fuzzy” stuff
starting to grow back on top of her head.

So, I am very pleased to announce that Rich Hewitt and I have already started to put
“THE NEW CHUBFUNK PARTY BAND”
back together. Although we will do some of the same old material as the original group, were adding
a “little” twist to this group’s lineup in that we have TWO lead singers (new members Renee and Dave),
giving the group a little more versatility in both it’s sound and musical selection. Additionally, the two of us,
being the “guitarheads” that we are, are in total agreement that the new group will have a little more “edge”
to the sound than it’s predecessor. Our new rhythm section, consisting of new members Tom on bass and
Bob on drums,  has the style and power that will unquestionably add a little more "ooomph" to the music.

Although we will be doing some of the original Chubfunk material, we've decided that
"THE NEW CHUBFUNK PARTY BAND"
is going to concentrate on doing OUR "rocked up" versions of what we consider to be "bar party tunes",
and, doing some songs from groups that you just don't seem to hear in the bars anymore - How about Deep Purple, Rainbow, Heart, Melissa Etheridge, Rossington-Collins, and Robin Trower just to name a few.

We have already started rehearsals and putting our new set list together. We have set our
target “comeback” date for the end of January at the Colorado Cafe, and, will be booking
more jobs soon at Kerwin's, Cryan's, and Rhythm's of the Night.

At practice the other night, I could just feel the energy and enthusiasm that this diverse and different lineup has
around it - we could all feel the potential that this group has after only playing about twelve songs together.
We can't wait to get in front of all of you and have a good time!

For many reasons that I just don't have time to explain, I have asked our fearless Webmaster to shut the
Chubfunk Forum down for awhile, as we re-do our website to reflect the changes in the group.
Please don't worry - the archive pictures are staying right where they are as they are a fond reminder
of all the great times we've had entertaining all of you. Our goal for
"THE NEW CHUBFUNK PARTY BAND"
- to add alot more of them with the new version of the band real soon!!!!!

I will keep all of you informed of the group's progress. Until then, be safe, be happy, and remember
IT'S STILL ALL ABOUT THE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
